ADAM JONES SCORES FIVE AS LAKERS PREVAIL IN GAME 7 ADVANCING TO MSL FINALS

After having seen a 3-0 series lead evaporate, the Peterborough Lakers won the seventh and deciding game of their MSL semi-final series 13-7 against the Brooklin Redmen.

The Lakers lifted by Adam Jones first period hat trick, led 5-2 at the end of the period.  Brooklin battled back to tie the game 6-6 late in the second period, but never took the lead as Peterborough were never behind in the game.  Jones ended the game with a total of 5 goals and 3 assists.  The always reliable veteran Cory Vitarelli scored three times.  Josh Currier scored twice. Single goals came from the sticks of Shawn Evans, Zach Currier and Chad Tutton.  Brooklin was led on the score sheet by Mark Matthews and Shayne Jackson both with a pair of goals.  Single goal snipers included Austin Shanks, Dan Lintner and Ryan Keenan.

Goaltender Matt Vinc was solid in nets for the Lakers making 41 saves on 48 shots.  Mike Poulin who was instrumental in Brooklin coming back in the series was once again reliable stopping 41 of 54 shots.

The defending Mann Cup champion Lakers must be wiping their brow after having almost blown the series and will now host the Oakville Rock in the MSL Championship Final Series. Dates for the series will be announced shortly.
