Big Road Win in Series Opener for Six Nations

The hope that home advantage may be the difference for the Oakville Rock in their MSL semi-final series against Six Nations Chiefs evaporated quickly as the Chiefs defeated the Rock 8-5 in Oakville in the opening game of the series.

The Chiefs led from the opening goal of the game taking a 2-1 lead by the end of the first period on goals by Ian McKay and Cody Jamieson.  Six Nations scored four successive goals to build up a substantial 6-1 lead by the 8:36 mark of the second period.  Battling back, the Rock scored four in a row including twice on the power play to end the second period with a 6-5 lead for Six Nations.

The third period saw the Chiefs add two more goals to end the game with a solid 8-5 win.

Goal scorers for Six Nations included Cody Jamieson and Eric Fennel each with a pair, single goals by Ian McKay, Craig Point, Jordan Durston and Jeremy Thompson.  Scoring for Oakville were Jason Noble, Jeremy Noble, Johnny Powless, Challen Rogers and Andrew Kew.

Chiefs' goaltender Doug Jamieson made 45 saves on 50 shots in recording the win.  Nick Rose gave up 8 goals on 44 shots for the Rock.

Combined the teams accumulated 20 minutes in penalty minutes with the Chiefs taking 12 minutes on 6 minor penalties and the Rock 8 minutes on 4 minor penalties.

The series resumes Tuesday in Six Nations.
