Brampton defeat Oakville 11-10

After starting the 2019 MSL season with four straight losses, the Brampton Excelsiors have won three of their past four games including an important 11-10 overtime win over the Oakville Rock.  The victory is huge for Brampton as they hustle to get themselves back into the race to make the playoffs. 

In a game that saw the teams trade goals on a regular basis, Brampton led 4-3 at the end of the first period. Outscoring Oakville 4-2 in the second period, the Excelsiors led 8-5 by the end of the second period.

Oakville rallied in the third period outscoring Brampton 3-0 to send the game into overtime.

Excelsiors’ outstanding rookie Jeff Teat scored in the first minute of overtime to give Brampton the lead which they would not give up.  Oakville’s Andrew Kew tied the game just over a minute later.  Brampton scored the next two goals taking an 11-9 lead by the five minute mark of the overtime period.  The Rock added one more, but could not tie the game in the final three minutes as Brampton held on for the win.  Goaltender Nolan Clayton made 43 saves recording the win for Brampton.

Tanner Thompson 1g, 2a.  For the Rock - Andrew Kew 2g, 2a, Rob Hellyer 0g, 3a and Brad Gillies 2g, 0a.
