The Viewtech Cobourg Kodiaks took down the visiting Brooklin Lacrosse Club in Major Series action Sunday Night in front of 400 very enthusiastic fans. The Kodiaks prevailed 11-5 in a dominant victory to improve to 1-1 on the season. Their loss came in overtime 10-9 against the Six Nations Chiefs.
Despite the referees calling eight minor penalties on the Kodiaks to Brooklin's four, the Kodiaks were able to control the play at both ends of the rink. They only allowed 2 regular strength goals against for the entire game.  The Kodiaks also had 2 goals of their own disallowed due to crease violations.
Tanner Buck led the way for Cobourg with 2 goals and 5 assists.  Tyler Hendryks added 3 goals with Aaron Woods and Riley Curtis adding one each.  Curtis had 4 assists as well.
David Anderson and Carson Moyer each scored their first career Major Series Lacrosse goals in the win with Anderson netting his second off the night to cap it off. Jackson Brown was excellent in net and picked up his first career MSL win stopping 46 of 51 shots.
The Kodiaks, the youngest team in the league, have bought into the team first, gritty style of play that has been established by new head coach, Brandon Francis. Kodiaks GM John Webb, is optimistic with the early success. "Coach Francis is an old school coach and is a great motivator. When he speaks, the players listen and have bought into his message that if they play for each other, they will be successful".
Cobourg next game is Sunday June 4th vs Six Nations Chiefs. Game time is 6pm at the Cobourg Community Centre! Tickets will be available at the door.
