Canadian Lacrosse Association re-evaluating decision on National Championships

Given the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create an aura of uncertainty - speaking on behalf of the Canadian Lacrosse Association – Executive Director Jane Clapham recently noted the CLA Board of Directors has decided to re-evaluate the 2021 National Championship events at their next scheduled meeting on March 17, 2021.  In the interim, the CLA will continue to seek input from Member Associations and Sector Committees on this matter. Obviously, the decision will impact the Mann Cup.

MSL Commissioner Doug Luey

"Health and safety of players and fans is paramount"

Doug Luey, Commissioner of Major Series Lacrosse in Ontario, commented  ”Certainly, we all desire the return of the Mann Cup in 2021.  However, the health and safety of our players and fans is paramount.  We will abide by the decisions and direction of the CLA. More importantly, beyond the impact COVID-19 has had on lacrosse, we hope for a return to normalcy in our everyday lives”.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has already caused the cancellation of the 2020 CLA National Championships and the postponement of the Canada Summer Games from 2021 to 2022.
