Chiefs hold off late BLC surge for the win

The Six Nations Chiefs struck early and often to hold off the Brooklin Lacrosse Club 9-7 Wednesday night during Major Series Lacrosse action.
Austin Staats got it rolling, scoring just 16 seconds in off a Shayne Jackson pass. Jackson then finished off an Eric Fannell pass at 2:10. Lyle Thompson converted a Fannell feed as well at 4:37 to make the score 3-0 Chiefs.
Sean Westley scored on the powerplay for BLC, before the Chiefs answered with Sam LeClair scoring on the powerplay as well at 13:58. LeClair would score once more before the end of the period converting a Randy Staats feed at 19:41.
BLC got on the board first in the second period, with Sean Westley scoring his second of the night off a Jack Boyden pass at 7:25, but Eric Fannell answered back from in close off an Austin Staats pass at 10:17. Brady Kearnan then scored with a shot from in close at 15:02, before Sam LeClair answered back again unassisted 28 seconds later.
In the third period, BLC got rolling with Luke Pilcher scoring a power-play goal off a Zac Carrigan feed at 7:50. Tyson Bell answered in transition off a Ty Logan pass at 12:24. Randy Staats and Brady Kearnan traded goals making it 9-5 with just 4:30 remaining.
BLC got closer with Kearnan scoring his second goal of the period at 16:59 unassisted, followed by Pilcher scoring on the powerplay at 17:40 off a Sean Westley pass.
Brooklin continued to push, but the Chiefs anchored by Warren Hill in net, held on for the victory.
