Chiefs Stay Perfect, Rout Excelsiors 15-2 to Improve to 10-0

The Brampton Excelsiors (2-9) traveled to face the Six Nations Chiefs (10-0) in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Riley Hutchcraft in net for the Excelsiors facing Doug Jamieson in net for the Chiefs. 

The Six Nations Chiefs continued their dominant march through the Major Series Lacrosse season Tuesday night, overwhelming the Brampton Excelsiors 15-2 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena to remain undefeated at 10-0.

The Chiefs controlled the contest from the opening faceoff, exploding for six first-period goals before adding seven more in the second to build an insurmountable 13-0 lead after 40 minutes. Andrew Kew paced the early attack with a first-period hat trick, while Dhane Smith orchestrated the offense with a remarkable playmaking performance. Josh Byrne, Shayne Jackson, Lyle Thompson, Cody Jamieson, Brendan Bomberry and Ryan Smith all found the scoresheet as Six Nations showcased its offensive depth and relentless transition game.

Brampton continued to battle despite the deficit, finally breaking the shutout early in the third period on a blistering shot from Thomas McConvey before Cody Innes added a power-play marker later in the frame. However, the Chiefs quickly answered each goal, cruising to a decisive 15-2 victory and extending their perfect season while continuing to establish themselves as the team to beat in Major Series Lacrosse.

To The Game:

The Chiefs got on the board first with Andrew Kew finding the five-hole off a Dhane Smith pass at 2:49, followed by a skip shot by Cody Jamieson from the outside off a Dhane Smith pass at 8:33.

Andrew Kew then scored his second of the period with a laser from the front of the net off a Nonkon Thompson pass at 9:37, followed by a tic-tac-toe play with Brendan Bomberry hitting Josh Byrne, finding Dhane Smith for the marker at 13:59.  

Kew then completed his hat-trick with a beauty from in front off a Josh Byrne pass at 18:04, followed by Shayne Jackson with a wrap around from behind the net off a Dhane Smith pass at 18:53.

After one period, Six Nations 6 Brampton 0.

Second Period:

Josh Byrne opened the second period scoring with a shot from the top of the crease off a Cody Jamieson "thread the needle" pass at 2:26, followed by a howitzer from Shayne Jackson off a Lyle Thompson feed at 3:51.

Dhane Smith came in all alone picking the far corner off a Shayne Jackson pass at 4:37, followed by Lyle Thompson finding the five-hole off a Latrell Harris feed 18 seconds later.

The Excelsiors replaced Riley Hutchcraft with Connor O'Toole in net. 

Josh Byrne welcomed O'Toole to the game with a blast off a Lyle Thompson pass at 5:31, followed by Brendan Bomberry with a beauty from the top of the crease off a Dhane Smith pass at 16:59.  Josh Byrne then dove across the crease off a Smith feed at 19:36.

After two periods, Six Nations 13 Brampton 0.

Third Period:

The Six Nations Chiefs spent the majority of the period playing keep away, killing clock.

Brampton finally got on the board with an absolute howitzer from Thomas McConvey off a Cody Innes pass at 3:19, but Ryan Smith finished a Shayne Jackson pass shorthanded at 12:45 for the Chiefs.

Brampton kept fighting when Cody Innes went five-hole on Doug Jamieson off a Thomas McConvey pass on the power-play at 13:44, but a low to low laser from Shayne Jackson off a behind the back pass from Andrew Kew at 16:54 stopped the Excelsiors momentum. 

Final score, Six Nations 15 Brampton 2.
