Chiefs trick out Kodiaks in final regular season game


The Six Nations Chiefs got hat tricks from Shayne Jackson, Larson Sundown and Sam LeCair in a 13-11 win over the Cobourg Kodiaks Sunday in the final Major Series Lacrosse game of the season.

David Anderson opened the scoring for the Kodiaks converting a Tanner Buck pass 43 seconds into the game. But the Chiefs stormed back with two quick goals. Cody Jamieson scored off a Charlie Scanlon pass at 2:57, followed by LeClair finishing off a Ben McIntosh pass 34 seconds later. Jackson increased the Chiefs lead with a blast off a  Scanlon pass at 7:11, followed by Sundown scoring off a Brad Kri pass at 9:16.

Buck got the Kodiaks back in the game converting a Marshall Powless pass at 9:49, but was answered Sundown’s second of the game at 10:25. Aaron Woods continued the Kodiaks comeback converting a Buck feed at 15:59, followed by Anderson’s second of the period off a Buck pass at 17:26.

Anderson’s third goal of the game tied the game early in the second off a Buck feed, but Brendan Bomberry answered for the Chiefs off a  LeClair pass at 1:48. Anderson’s fourth of the evening tied the game again, but two more from LeClair, including a power-play marker gave the Chiefs a two-goal advantage at 4:39.

Tyler Hendryks scored  the next two goals to tie the game. The first was off a Nick Ellerton feed at 13:14 to bring the game within one, followed by a blast off a Buck feed at 19:55 on the power-play.

The Chiefs opened the third period with two quick goals. Jackson scored his second of the game off a Thompson feed at 2:04, followed by Thompson himself scoring unassisted at 2:20.

Hendryks brought the Kodiaks within one goal in transition off a long lead pass from Steven Orleman at 3:40, and tied it again when Powless converted a Woods pass at 9:26. 

Jamieson once again gave the Chiefs the lead again finishing off a  Thompson pass at 10:16. But Carson Moyer converted a Buck feed to tie the game with just 6:46 remaining.

The Chiefs rallied with two more goals from Jackson off a Jamieson pass at 15:28, followed by Sundown converting a Bomberry pass at 16:13.
