Chiefs use eight different scorers in win over Kodiaks
The Six Nations Chiefs are showing how deep their lineup is this season after beating the Cobourg Kodiaks 9-6 on the road Sunday.With five regulars out of the lineup because they are playing for the Haudenosaunee Nationals at The World Games, the Chiefs got goals from eight different players to earn its fifth win of the season to remain at the top of Major Series Lacrosse.
Jerry Staats, Jordan Durston and Eric Fannell got the Chiefs off to a quick start, with Kealan Pilon responding for the Kodiaks.
Vaughn Harris and Sam Leclair scored quickly in the second period to increase the Chiefs lead, while Brine Rice and Luke Laskiewicz netted goals for the Kodiaks.
Joey Cupido, Frank Brown, Liam Leclair and Harris all scored in the final frame, while Cam Milligan scored a pair for the Kodiaks and Colton Armstrong added one.
NOTES: Doug Jamieson got the win between the Chiefs pipes, while Kevin Orleman took the loss. Fannell and Kellan Leclair played the roll of facilitators, each earning three assists for the Chiefs. The Chiefs improve to 5-1-1 and sit in top spot in MSL, while the Kodiaks drop to 1-6. Both teams return to action Tuesday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm. The game will be broadcast online and cable thanks to Rogers.
