Josh Dawick and Andrew Kew each had double-digit point nights to lead the Oakville Rock to a 19-12 win over the Owen Sound North Stars Monday in Major Series Lacrosse action. The dynamic duo's performance was the cornerstone for the Rock's dominant offensive display, which saw them pull ahead early and maintain control throughout the game at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.
The game started with an explosive first period, as the Rock set the tone with an early goal just 34 seconds in by Kew. This was quickly followed by Marley Angus netting another goal a minute and a half later. Cam Acchione got the North Stars on the board, before Kew netted his second goal of the game. Steven Portelli and Will Cecile responded again for the North Stars. But then it was all Rock, with Dawick netting two, while Sam English, Dalton Sulver, Kew, Angus, and Ryan Lanchbury all added to the cause.
The second period saw no slowdown in scoring. Jackson Reid and Cam Acchione each found the net early for the North Stars, while Lanchbury responded with his second goal of the game.
Jonathan Peshko and Tanner Buck managed to keep their team in the game, but Oakville's offense, led by Josh Dawick and Sam English, proved too potent. Sam English scored twice on power plays, cementing the Rock's lead. Portelli and Reid responded for the North Stars.
In the final period, the Rock continued their relentless attack. Despite the North Stars' efforts, highlighted by goals from Peshko and Greg Elijah-Brown, the Rock kept coming. Lanchbury netted three more goals, while English, and Kew added singles.
