Dedication, Passion and Commitment to Major Series Lacrosse (James Brady Award) = Larry Power

It is hard to imagine any fan of lacrosse who has not heard the name Larry Power.  His commitment to lacrosse and personal colourful character made him well known and easy to like.  Known as “Wamper” or “Wamp” – his efforts left our game a legacy few can duplicate. Larry Power’s “Bible of Lacrosse” is THE go-to source for lacrosse data - team and individual player information (the “Bible” is currently being updated and digitized).  www.bibleoflacrosse.com

Larry’s apartment was a unique Lacrosse Hall of Fame loaded with lacrosse artifacts and paraphernalia that he collected through the years.  Larry had dubbed it the “Gaylord Powless Lounge” as a tribute to his favourite player – the legendary Gaylord Powless.

Very knowledgeable about lacrosse, Larry’s favourite team is the Brooklin Redmen (now the Brooklin Lacrosse Club).  If you wanted an enlightened and entertaining conversation about lacrosse, Larry was always willing to chat away with you.

Larry Power was inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2008 in the Builder category.  Without question, Larry was a true historian of the game.  Sadly, Larry passed away on June 23, 2019.  How fitting is it that Larry Power is the first recipient of the James Brady Award for “Dedication, Passion and Commitment to Major Series Lacrosse”.
