Sam English's second goal of the game proved to be the winner, giving the Oakville Rock a 9-8 overtime win over the Peterborough Lakers on the road Thursday,

After Andrew Kew opened the scoring, Matt Gilray and Thomas Hoggarth struck for the Lakers. Later in the frame Kew and Hoggarth again exchanged goals.

The Rock struck first again thanks to Nathan Grenon, before Hoggarth netted his third of the game and Joe Resetarits gave the Lakers another lead.

But that lead didn't last long, with the Rock closing out the period going on a four-goal run thanks to two more from Kew, English and Grenon.

The Lakers looked to get back into the game in the third period, with goals from Owen Hiltz, and two more from Hoggarth, who tied the game to send it to overtime with just over three minutes to go.

Ryan Lanchbury scored for the Rock.

Nick Rose made 66 stops in a losing effort, while Doug Buchan made 55 saves for the win.
