Excelsiors and Chiefs tie 12-12

In a game that saw neither team ever have a lead of more than two goals, the Brampton Excelsiors and Six Nations Chiefs played to a 12-12 tie in MSL action on Thursday evening in Brampton.

Sniper Cody Jamieson led the Chiefs with a five goal game while adding two assists.  Randy Staats also had a productive night scoring three goals along with five assists.

Brampton goals were spread among ten different players with Jordan Dance and Dereck Downs each scoring twice.

The fact the lead changed eight times is indicative of how close and competitive a contest it was.  Both teams had the lead several times, including the overtime period which saw four goals scored.  In a relatively penalty free game, both teams were 1-2 on the power play. Six Nations dominated in the face-off circle winning 19 of 28 draws.

At just over the mid-point of the MSL schedule, Six Nations has an overall record of 4-4-1, good enough for third place in the standings.  Brampton is 1-6-2, which has them tied for fifth place with Cobourg, although the Kodiaks have played one less game.
