Kodiaks come out firing in Game 1

The Cobourg Kodiaks came out flying and firing Wednesday in Game 1 of their best-of-five MSL quarter-final series against the Oakville Rock.
Having to uproot to the Jack Burger Arena in Port Hope, the Kodiaks got four goal and three assists from David Anderson to lead the way in a 17-9 win over the Rock.
Anderson got the scoring started in the first period and added another later on, followed by Dustyn Birkhof, Matt Marinier, and Justin Skyes. Andrew Kew had the lone Rock response.
The two teams exchanged blows in the second period. Brock Haley led the way with a pair, while Jeremi Phoenix, Braedon Saris, Anderson, and Aaron Woods scored singles. Ryan Lanchbury scored twice for the Rock, while, Sam English, Marley Angus, Tyler Hendrycks, and Jack Follows added one each.
In the third period, Tye Argent and Josh Dawick had the replies for the Rock. But it was the Kodiaks that went on another run. Woods led the way with two goals, while Saris, Anderson, Haley, and Nathan Grenon scored one each.
Steve Orleman earned the win, while Nick Rose took the loss between the pipes.
