Kodiaks ride seven-goal run to victory over Excelsiors

Powered by a seven-goal run, the Cobourg Kodiaks pulled ahead and came away victorious with a 9-6 win over the Brampton Excelsiors in Major Series Lacrosse action Sunday night.

The Kodiaks' offensive surge began late in the second period and continued into the third. Tyler Hendryks was instrumental in the win, netting a hat trick and leading the scoring throughout the game.

The action kicked off in the first period with Gareth Haigh giving the Kodiaks a lead. The Excelsiors quickly responded with a goal from Rory Graham. The Kodiaks regained the lead on a powerplay with Hendryks scoring. The Excelsiors answered back with a power-play goal from Holden Patterson, and closed the period strong with Zach Sunderland's goal, making it 3-2.

the Excelsiors extended the lead in the second period with goals from JP Ward and Lucas Ferreira. However, the Kodiaks began their seven-goal streak with Hendryks scoring midway through the frame and with another power-play goal. Scott Dominey capped off the second period with a short-handed goal, bringing the Kodiaks to within one.

The third period saw the Kodiaks' offensive onslaught continue. Aaron Woods scored before Haigh netted the game-winning goal at 15:14. Woods added another goal , while Stone Jacobs added a short-handed marker. 

Although Brampton managed a late goal from Adrian Channel, it wasn't enough to overcome their host's dominant run.
