Lakers score early and often to declaw Kodiaks

The Peterborough Lakers struck early and didn’t look back, defeating the Cobourg Kodiaks 16-7 Sunday during Major Series Lacrosse action.

Taite Cattoni scored the first of his three goals on the night 31 seconds into the game, while DJ Clark, Blake Gibson-McDonald, Colton Armstrong, Turner Evans and Eli McLaughlin all scored first period goals to lead the way. Hunter Aggus and Taylor Dooley responded for the Kodiaks.

The Kodiaks rebounded back in the second period with Marshall Powless scoring 29 seconds into the frame. David Anderson and Aaron Woods also scored for the Kodiaks. Despite that, the Lakers continued to score with Taite Cattoni adding two goals, while McLaughlin, Thomas Hoggarth, Armstrong and Evans all adding one each.

In the third period, Tyler Hendryks and Curtis Conley bookended the scoring for the Kodiaks. Between those goals, Holden Cattoni netted two goals in a row, before Armstrong and Clark added to the lead.

Drew Hutchison got the win making 45 stops.
