LAKERS TAKE COMMANDING 3-0 SERIES LEAD OVER EXCELSIORS
The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers are one win away from returning to the MSL final after an 11-4 over the Brampton Excelsiors on Thursday night at the Evinrude Centre. The Lakers lead the semi-final series 3-0. Game four is on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Brampton Memorial Arena.
Dallas Bridle put the Excelsiors up 1-0 but the Lakers led 3-1 after the first. They outscored Brampton 5-0 in the second in front of strong play from Matt Vinc and the defense. Brampton scored three times in the third but the Lakers equaled their offensive output.
Vinc made 43 saves and took home 180 Hunter defensive player of the game honours. Josh Currier, with the hat trick, was named the Wiser’s player of the game.
For the second game in a row, the Lakers chased Nolan Clayton out of the Excelsiors’ net in favour of Steven Orleman. Mike Burke had a goal and assist for Brampton. Jeff Teat was held to one assist.
If necessary, game five will be back at the Evinrude Centre on Tuesday, August 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets for that game will be sold on Tuesday only. Please contact the Memorial Centre box office to purchase a full-series package.
