Lakers tie Mann Cup up at 2-2

Shawn Evans bookended a seven point night to tie John Tavares for the all-time Mann Cup points record. And in the process, helped propel the Peterborough Lakers to a 15-12 victory over the Langley Thunder Tuesday.
The two teams are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-seven Mann Cup final to determine Canada’s top senior A lacrosse champion.
Offence was the them of the first period with the two teams combining for 12 goals.
Curtis Dickson again led the Western Lacrosse Assocaition champion Thunder with two goals in the frame, while Dylan Kinnear, Chase Scanlan, and Dane Dobbie added one each.
Holden Cattoni and Mark Matthews each scored two goals, while Thomas Hoggarth and Evans pitched in with one apiece.
Both teams kept the offence rolling in the second period. Joe Resetarits netted a pair, with Cory Vitarelli, Holden Cattoni, and Matthews scoring singles.
Dickson responded two more times. Connor Robinson and Dobbie also scored goals.
The Thunder managed to tie the game early in the third period thanks to Church’s second of the night. But Hoggarth, Taite catatonia, Kiel Matisz and Chad Tutton put the game on ice.
Dobbie had the other Thunder response.

NOTES:  Players of the Game were Mark Matthews and Robert Church. Matt Vinc got the win in the Lakers pipes making 45 saves. Down at the other end, Frank Scigliano stopped 40 shots. Game 5 of the Mann Cup final is Wednesday at 8pm. You can watch it live or on archive at the MSL YouTube page.
