MANN CUP: Balanced attack leads Chiefs to Game 1 win

Led by a balanced attack at both ends of the floor, and anchored by Doug Jamieson between the pipes, the Six Nations Chiefs came up with a 10-7 win over the New Westminster Salmonbellies in Game 1 of the Mann Cup final.

The Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven national senior A lacrosse championship series 1-0.

The Chiefs started hot, scoring four times in the first 10 minutes thanks to Lyle Thompson, Shayne Jackson, Randy Staats, and Eric Fannell. Haiden Dickson and Ryan Martel responded for the Western Lacrosse Association champion Salmonbellies.

The Chiefs continued to come on waves, with Randy Staats, and Jeremy Thompson scoring, before Brad Kri and Jackson added to the lead. The Salmonbellies managed a two-goal run thanks to Kevin Crowley and Keegan Bal.

The Salmonbellies were able to grab some momentum in the third period with goals from Crowley, and a pair from Anthony Malcolm. 

Doug Jamieson was great between the Chiefs' pipes making 45 saves, while Zach Higgins was solid in the Salmonbellies goal, making 39 storps.

Game 2 of the Mann Cup final goes on Saturday night at Queen's Park Arena at 10:30 EST.
