Most Valuable Player of the Year - Challen Rogers

Most Valuable Player of the Year (Jim Murphy Trophy)

Challen Rogers, Oakville Rock

The 2018 MSL Most Valuable Player - Challen Rogers, has repeated to win the Most Valuable Player for the 2019 season.  Rogers is the epitome of an all-round player. Standing 6’4” and weighing 220 pounds, he is known for his stellar defensive play usually in a transition role for the Oakville Rock.  However, the 25-year-old right-handed shot also contributes offensively.  In the 2019 MSL season, he scored 18 goals and added 28 assists for 46 points in 16 games which is just under 3 points per game.  In addition, Rogers sees action as a penalty killer and plays a role on the power play. Despite playing both offence and defence, Challen Rogers had only 2 penalty minutes the entire season.  With quick reaction timing, he does what coaches want by moving the ball up the floor with deftness. His play as the prototypical transition type player with strong defensive skills and impressive offensive capability would have seen him fit in nicely when the game required players to go both ways.  That aside, he is a fine example of the incredible athletes who comprise the rosters of Major Series Lacrosse and the 2019 Moat Valuable Player.
