MSL – Rookie of the Year = Jeff Teat

Rookie Jeff Teat led the Major Series Lacrosse league in overall scoring for the 2019 season.  In 18 games, Teat scored 36 goals and added 44 assists for a total of 80 points.  He gave notice by his second game (6 points) that he was going to be an impact player. He established early in the season that he was going to own the Gene Dopp Memorial Trophy as MSL “Rookie of the Year” honour.  In his first season of MSL play – Jeff Teat is both the League Scoring Champion and Rookie of the Year. 

Jeff Teat registered at least 1 point every game he played including his first game in the MSL.  He became comfortable shortly thereafter following up with games collecting points of 6, 6, 2, 4, 5, 5, 1, 3, 1, 8, 5, 11, 4, 4, 6, 7 and 1 point.  In terms of scoring goals -  Jeff Teat had one 6 goal game; one 5 goal game; one 4 goal game; four 3 goal games; one 2 goal game; seven 1 goal games. There were three games when he did not score a goal.

The efforts of Jeff Teat and his team-mates secured the Excelsiors fourth place and a playoff spot as they ended the regular season with a record of 9 wins and 9 losses.  This was a significant improvement from the fifth non-playoff position of 5-9-2 in 2018.  Certainly, Jeff Teat and the host of young Brampton talent have a very bright future ahead of themselves.  Expect to see the Brampton Excelsiors challenge for the MSL championship in the next few seasons.  Jeff Teat will play a major role exciting lacrosse fans with his tremendous lacrosse skills
