Rock's explosive third period secures victory over Lakers

The Oakville Rock scored nine goals in the third period to power by the Peterborough Lakers 13-10 in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre Monday.

The game started with the Rock taking an early lead, thanks to goals from Nathan Grenon, Jack Follows, Ryan Lanchbury, and Josh Dawick. Thomas Hoggarth managed to keep the Lakers close, with two goals in the first period, while Taite Cattoni and Jake Withers added singles tying things up after 20 minutes..

In the second period, the Lakers began to dominate with goals from Koleton Marquis, Owen Hiltz, Joe Resetarits, and Dylan Hutchison.

After Jake Withers gave the Lakers a five-goal lead early in the third period, the Rock went on a run of their own.

Andrew Kew, Mike McCannell, Callum Jones, Lanchbury and Ty English tied things up, before Hoggarth netted his second goal of the game. But goals from McCannell, English, Follows and Jones gave the Rock a lead they wouldn't give up.

Troy Holowchuk made 57 stops to get the win in the Rock goal, while Doug Buchan made 43 saves for the Lakers.
