Rookie Whitcomb impresses with five goal effort to lead Chiefs

Thanks to five goals from rookie Kobe Whitcomb and Austin Staats the Six Nations Chiefs coasted to an impressive 15-7 win over the Coburg Kodiaks.
Staats' three-straight goals were notched within the first four minutes of the game. Bo Bowhunter made it 4-0, followed up by Whitcomb playing in his first MSL game since being called up a couple of years ago from the Six Nations Rebels junior B team, sniping a hat trick, while Chris Weier added a single goal to give the Chiefs a 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Kodiaks battled back in the second quarter outscoring the Chiefs 4-2 to narrow the score to 10-5.
The Chiefs led 13-6 by the end of the third quarter. A low scoring fourth quarter (2-1 for Six Nations) resulted in the final score.
Brandon Robinson was the Kodiaks’ top sniper scoring three goals.
Chiefs’ goaltender Warren Hill was exceptionally strong, recording the winwith a 57-save effort. Ethan Woods took the loss, despite sharing duties with Kevin Orleman.
With the win, the Chiefs record in the MSL Classic improves to 1-2, while the Kodiaks fall to 0-2.
Next up at the MSL Classic is a tilt between Owen Sound and the Six Nations Chiefs on Wednesday at 8pm. Thursday, the Cobourg Kodiaks play the Oakville Rock, also at 8pm.
