The Brooklin Lacrosse Club (1-0) traveled west to Brampton to face the Excelsiors (0-1) at the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Steven Orleman in net for Brooklin facing Riley Hutchcraft in net for the Excelsiors.
The Brooklin Lacrosse Club used a dominant second period explosion to pull away from the Brampton Excelsiors in a convincing 13-7 victory. After a tightly contested opening frame that saw both teams trade power-play goals, Brooklin carried a narrow 3-2 lead into the intermission thanks to tallies from Lucas Littlejohn, Dan Lintner, and Chase Scanlon. Brampton stayed within striking distance early behind strong offensive efforts from Coltrane Tyson and Mike Triolo, but Brooklin’s depth and transition game quickly took control.
The game completely shifted in the second period as Brooklin erupted for seven goals, led by a sensational performance from Chase Scanlon, who scored four times in the middle frame alone. Landon Sinfield added a pair of goals while Holden Garlent and Dan Lintner chipped in offensively as the Brooklin attack overwhelmed the Excelsiors defense. Although Brampton received goals from Connor McClelland, Michael Blaymires, Josh Medeiros, and Reed Kurtz later in the game, Brooklin never allowed the momentum to swing back. Strong ball movement, transition pressure, and special teams play powered Brooklin to the six-goal win, with Scanlon earning first star honours after a dominant offensive night.
