Second period surge powers Lakers past BLC

The Peterborough Lakers scored seven times in the second period to power themselves to a 12-8 win over Brooklin Lacrosse Club on Sunday night in Whitby.
Pending the appeal hearing on Monday the Lakers hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal.
BLC got off to a hot start thanks to Brady Kearnan, Ryan Lanchbury, Connor Kearnan and Luke Pilcher. But the Lakers came back with two goals from Thomas Hogarth and another from Taite Cattoni.
It was all Lakers in the second frame. Holden Cattoni and Hoggarth each scored twice, while Joe Resetarits, Cory Vitarelli and Chad Tutton netted singles.
BLC responded with goals from Connor Kearnan and Ryan Barnable.
BLC tried to mount a comeback thanks to Dyson Williams and Lanchbury. But the Lakers kept the lead with goals from Mark Matthews and Matt Gilray.
NOTES: Doug Buchan again was huge in the Lakers net making 46 saves. Down at the other end, Nick Damude made 44 stops. Game 5 of the stores is Monday in Peterborough at 8pm. That game can be seen on cable thanks to YourTV Peterborough and RogersTV Durham. Monday the Ontario Lacrosse Association is holding a meeting in regards to BLC’s appeal of Game 2. The Lakers protested Game 2, which BLC won because a suspended coach was on the BLC bench. The initial ruling by the OLA was the Lakers were awarded the victory.
