Smith impresses with four-goal performance in Rock win over Owen Sound
Ryan Smith certainly made his presence known in his Oakville Rock debut at the Major Series Lacrosse Classic.
A prolific scorer wherever he’s played, Smith scored four times and added three assists to help the Rock to a 11-8 win over the Owen Sound Lacrosse Club at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre on Thursday.
Smith scored a hat trick in the first quarter, leading his team to a six-goal assault to start the game. Then he added one more for good measure in the third quarter.
Ryan Lanchbury and Mike McCannell each added two goals, while Jack Kelly, Marley Angus and Dan Lintner netted one each.
Jake McNabb led Owen Sound with a pair of goals, while John St. John, Dallas Bridle, Chris Wilman, Adam Wiedermann, Jordan Caskenette and Bret Klopfer each pitched in with a goal.
Now at 2-0, the now face the Coburg Kodiaks on Thursday, while Owen Sound (0-1) plays the Brooklin Lacrosse Club Tuesday and Six Nations Chiefs Wednesday. All games are at the TRAC at 8pm.
