Strong third period lifts Lakers over Kodiaks

Josh Currier scored two of his three goals in teh third period to lead the charge as the Peterborough Lakers slipped by the Cobourg Kodiaks 12-8 in Major Series Lacrosse action Sunday.

Scott Dominey opened the game’s scoring in transition converting a Tanner Buck feed at 2:58, but was answered by Thomas Hoggarth on the power-play off a Holden Cattoni feed at 3:50.  Austin Hasen scored at 4:19, followed by Josh Currier converting a Turner Evans pass at 11:22.  Thomas Hoggarth’s second power-play goal of the period at 12:11 gave the Lakers a 4-1 lead.

Curtis Conley brought the game within two goals off a Carson Moyer pass at 13:31, but was answered back by Jordan Stouros scoring in transition off a Landon Kells long lead pass at 14:50. 

The Kodiaks rhymed off two more goals. Aaron Wooks scored at 16:54, followed by Tanner Buck converting a Tyler Hendryks feed at 17:18.  Marshal Powless then tied the game for the Kodiaks off an Aaron Woods pass on the power-play at 19:02.

The Lakers opened the second period scoring when Holden Cattoni scored off a Taite Cattoni feed at 3:57 on the power-play, but Tanner Buck answered with his second of the night at 8:03.  David Anderson gave the Kodiaks the lead at 9:15 on the power-play, but Turner Evans answered with a laser off a Josh Currier feed at 10:57. 

The see-saw affair continued. the Kodiaks regained the lead again on the power-play when Aaron Woods converted a Marshall Powless pass at 13:00,  but DJ Clark scored for the Lakers off a Taite Cattoni feed at 13:51. 

The Lakers took the lead to start the third period when Josh Currier finished an Austin Hasen feed at 3:35, followed by DJ Clark’s second of the night off a Holden Cattoni feed at 10:00 to stake the Lakers to a two goal lead.  Josh Currier added one more off an Austin Hasen feed at 13:40, followed by Taite Cattoni finishing off an Austin Hasen feed at 15:06.
