Larson Sundown made his presence known in his Six Nations Chiefs debut Monday.

In front of a packed Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, the newly-acquired Sundown streaked down the right side, received the pass and dove in to score the overtime winner, giving the Chiefs a 10-9 come-from-behind victory over the Cobourg Kodiaks in the MAjor Series Lacrosse opener.

Down 7-5 heading into the third period, Wes Whitlow and Sundown scored to chip away at the lead, while Bryan Cole scored with three seconds remaining in regulation to put the game in overtime.

Tyler Hendryks, Brendan Bomberry and Curtis Romancych exchanged goals for their respective teams.

In the first period, Tanner Buck got the Kodiaks going early, scoring the first of his three on the night. But then the Chiefs began to heat up, with Cody Jamieson scoring a pair and newly-acquired Tyler Biles adding one late in the frame.

Buck and the Kodiaks dominated the second period. While the game-leader in goals scored twice, Curtis Conley, Riley Curtis and Aaron Woods all added singles.

Lyle Thompson and Bomberry responded.

The Chiefs are back in action Thursday, when they hit the road against the Brampton Excelsiors at 8 p.m. The Kodiaks host the Brooklin Lacrosse Club Sunday at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast on YourTV, as well as on Rogers Durham (cable only).
