From Promise to Production

Every generation produces a handful of players who seem destined for greatness long before they reach the senior ranks. Alex Marinier is one of those players.
Whether it was dominating minor lacrosse in Burlington, leading the Burlington Blaze to a Minto Cup championship, becoming an All-American at Ohio State, or emerging as the Major Series Lacrosse scoring champion and league MVP, Marinier has consistently answered every challenge placed before him.

Still in the early stages of his career, he has already become one of the faces of Major Series Lacrosse. His powerful shot, exceptional lacrosse IQ, and ability to create offense have made him one of the game's most exciting young stars. The remarkable part is that his story is only beginning.

Early Years

Born and raised in Burlington, Ontario, Marinier discovered lacrosse at a young age and quickly developed a passion for the game. Like many Canadian athletes, he grew up playing multiple sports, with hockey helping to shape the competitiveness and athleticism that would later define his style on the lacrosse floor.

He attended Dr. Frank J. Hayden Catholic Secondary School, where he balanced academics with athletics while establishing himself as one of the province's top young lacrosse players. Even as a teenager, coaches praised not only his scoring ability but also his work ethic and willingness to improve every aspect of his game.

Climbing the Ladder

Marinier's junior career with the Burlington Blaze showcased exactly why he was considered one of Canada's elite prospects.

As his confidence grew, so did his production. He became one of the OJLL's premier offensive threats, capable of beating defenders with his quick release, creating opportunities for teammates, or taking over a game when his team needed a spark.

The defining moment came in 2023, when he helped lead Burlington to the Minto Cup championship, cementing his reputation as one of the country's brightest young stars.
His performances also earned him the opportunity to represent Team Canada at the World Under-21 Championship, adding international experience to an already impressive résumé.

Ohio State University

Marinier's journey continued at Ohio State University, where his development reached another level.
Originally recruited as a defender, his offensive instincts eventually earned him a move to attack—a decision that transformed his collegiate career.

He became one of the most dangerous scorers in Buckeye history, earning:

During the 2025 season, Marinier scored 50 goals, becoming just the third player in Ohio State history to reach that milestone while helping the Buckeyes capture their first Big Ten Tournament championship.

National Lacrosse League

Marinier's outstanding junior and collegiate career made him one of the top prospects in the 2025 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, where he was selected 6th overall by the Halifax Thunderbirds.

His selection confirmed what many around the game already believed—that he possessed the talent to become an impact player at every level.

Major Series Lacrosse

Joining the Cobourg Kodiaks, Marinier wasted little time establishing himself as one of the league's elite offensive players.

His combination of an explosive outside shot, quick hands around the crease, and outstanding vision made him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

The 2026 season proved to be his breakout campaign.

Marinier captured the Bucko MacDonald Leading Scorer Award with 92 points, while also earning the Jim Murphy Most Valuable Player Award. In one remarkable season, he established himself not only as the league's top scorer, but as one of its most complete players.

Beyond the Floor

Away from the rink, Marinier has earned praise for his commitment to both academics and personal development.
Graduating from Ohio State with a degree in Finance before pursuing graduate studies in Sport Industry, he has shown that success off the floor is every bit as important as success on it.
