Brooklin Keeps Slim Playoff Hopes Alive With Dominant Win Over Oakville

The Oakville Rock (12-6) visited the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (10-8) in Major Series Lacrosse action Wednesday night at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Evan Constantopolous in net for the Rock facing Aden Walsh in net for Brooklin.

In a must win game, the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (BLC) turned in one of their most complete performances of the season Wednesday night, defeating the Oakville Rock 14-1 at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby. Despite being outshot 17-12 in the opening period, Brooklin built a 2-0 lead on goals from Dyson Williams and Reilly O'Connor before erupting for six unanswered goals in the second period. Chris Boushy scored twice in the frame, including a spectacular shorthanded marker, while Connor Kearnan added two goals of his own as the BLC carried a commanding 8-0 lead into the second intermission.

Brooklin never let up in the third period, adding six more goals as Lucas Littlejohn took over offensively with a natural hat trick in the final frame and four points overall. Connor Kearnan finished with a hat trick, while Aden Walsh was outstanding between the pipes, stopping 49 of 50 shots to earn first-star honours. Tye Steenhuis spoiled the shutout with Oakville's lone goal midway through the third, but it was the only blemish on a dominant night for Brooklin, who improved to 10-8 with the emphatic victory over the Rock.
Now the BLC must wait if Cobourg beats Owen Sound Saturday to see who will take fourth spot in the standings, and the final playoff spot. 

To The Game:


Brooklin opened the scoring with Dyson Williams firing a behind the back shot going coast to coast unassisted at 3:36, followed by Reilly O'Connor all alone in front off a Chris Boushy pass at 7:05.

After one period, Brooklin 2 Oakville 0.
Shots on goal favored the Rock 17-12.

Second Period:

The BLC opened the second period scoring with Chris Boushy diving from behind the net off a Reilly O'Connor feed at 1:51, followed by Connor Kearnan being sent in alone off a Michael White pass at 2:28.  

Mike Byrne then added one in transition going in all alone beating Constantopolous to the glove side at 3:54, followed by Chris Boushy shorthanded with another dive from behind the net off a Ryan Barnable pass at 15:13.

Nate Woods added another in transition grabbing a loose ball shooting stick side unassisted at 16:13, followed by Connor Kearnan with a shot from the inside off a Lucas Littlejohn pass at 19:12.

After two periods, Brooklin 8 Oakville 0.
Shots on goal favored the BLC 26-18.

Third Period:

The Rock replaced Evan Constantopolous with Landon Kells in net to start the third period. 

Lucas Littlejohn opened the third period scoring with a howitzer from the outside off a Connor Kearnan pass at 2:06, followed by Jack Oldman going coast to coast in transition unassisted at 5:47.

Lucas Littlejohn then scored with a low to low laser unassisted at 8:46, followed by Will MacLeod with a quick stick off a Littlejohn feed at 10:00.

Tye Steenhuis broke up the shutout bid with a blast to the shortside top corner off a long lead pass from Landon Kells at 10:40, but a jump from behind the net from Lucas Littlejohn at 14:33 stopped whatever momentum the Rock had generated.  Connor Kearnan then added another goal from in close off a Littlejohn pass at 15:35.

Final score, Brooklin 14 Oakville 1.
Shots on goal favored the BLC 22-15, for a game total favoring Brooklin 60-50.
