Chiefs Keep Rolling with Dominant Win Over NorthStars

The Owen Sound NorthStars (1-13) faced the Six Nations Chiefs (13-0) in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday evening at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Adam Power in net for the NorthStars facing Warren Hill in net for the Chiefs. 

The Six Nations Chiefs showed why they're still the team to beat Tuesday night, using a relentless offensive attack to defeat the Owen Sound NorthStars 17-2 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

The Chiefs set the tone almost immediately, scoring just 23 seconds into the game before piling on eight more goals in a blistering opening period. Owen Sound managed to answer once through Xander Derkatz, but Six Nations' depth and ball movement were simply too much to contain, taking a commanding 9-1 lead after the opening 20 minutes.

There was no let-up in the second period. Dawson Theede sparked another Chiefs run before Shayne Jackson, Andrew Kew, Nonkon Thompson and Ryan Smith all added goals. Greg Elijah-Brown provided Owen Sound's second marker of the night, but Six Nations still headed to the final period comfortably in front, 15-2.

Brendan Bomberry and Graeme Hossack rounded out the scoring in the third as the Chiefs completed another impressive performance to remain undefeated.

To The Game:

The Six Nations Chiefs got on the board quickly with Lattrell Harris finding the five-hole off a Nonkon Thompson pass in transition at 23 seconds, followed by Cody Jamieson with a beauty from in close off a Shayne Jackson pass at 2:57.

Andrew Kew then scored over the shoulder of Adam Power from the top of the crease off a Dhane Smith pass at 6:02, followed by a laser from Shayne Jackson off a Cody Jamieson feed 28 seconds later. 

The NorthStars replaced Adam Power with Myles Playter in net. 

Xander Derkatz finally got Owen Sound on the board with an outside blast off a Callum Brennan pass at 6:47, but a high to low laser from Dhane Smith answered kept the Chiefs rolling off a Shayne Jackson pass at 9:24.

Dhane Smith then feathered a pass towards Lyle Thompson, however it floated into the top corner off a Shayne Jackson pass at 12:50, followed by a high to low bounced shot from Josh Byrne off a Ryan Smith pass at 13:28.  

Shayne Jackson then fired a low to low laser from the outside off a Cody Jamieson pass at 14:28, followed by Dhane Smith's third of the period off a Jackson feed at 15:03.

After one period, Six Nations 9 Owen Sound 1.

Second Period:

Dawson Theede opened the second period scoring for Six Nations going coast to coast with a bounced shot at 2:07, followed by a power-play marker from Shayne Jackson with a quick stick off an Andrew Kew pass at 5:35.  Kew then went shortside with a blast off a Dhane Smith feed at 6:37.

Greg Elijah-Brown got the NorthStars on the board once again at 8:22 with a pretty goal from in close, but Shayne Jackson replied with a sidearm snipe off a Josh Byrne feed at 11:15.  Nonkon Thompson then added to the total immediately off the faceoff with a give and go with Josh Byrne at 11:53.

Adam Power went back in the Owen Sound net.

Ryan Smith continued the onslaught with a nice move in front off a Dhane Smith pass at 18:24.

After two periods, Six Nations 15 Owen Sound 2.

Third Period:

Brendan Bomberry opened the third period scoring with an in close marker off a Dhane Smith feed at 6:13,  followed by Graeme Hossack finishing a Dhane Smith pass from the top of the crease at 16:05.

Final score, Six Nations 17 Owen Sound 2.
