Chiefs Ride Dominant Second Period To Victory

Sponsored by Bergmanis Preyra LLPThe Coquitlam Adanacs faced the Six Nations Chiefs in game one of the 2026 Mann Cup at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario Friday evening.

The goaltending match-up had Christian Del Bianco in net for the Adanacs facing Doug Jamieson in net for the Chiefs. 

The Six Nations Chiefs erupted for seven second-period goals to defeat the Coquitlam Adanacs 8-2 in Game One of the 2026 Mann Cup at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario. After the teams were tied 1-1 following the opening period, Payton Cormier briefly gave Coquitlam the lead early in the second before Six Nations responded with a relentless offensive surge. Lyle Thompson, Graeme Hossack, Randy Staats, Tyson Bell, Josh Byrne, Chris Cloutier, and Dhane Smith all scored during the Chiefs’ dominant run.

The defenses and goaltenders took over in the third period, keeping both teams off the scoresheet as Six Nations secured the 8-2 victory. Doug Jamieson earned Player of the Game for Six Nations, While Christian Del Bianco was thr Player of the Game for Coquitlam.  The Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven series 1-0, with Game Two set for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

To The Game:

The Chiefs struck first at 3:17. Randy Staats worked the ball to Andrew Kew, who found a seam and ripped a high-to-low laser past the Coquitlam netminder, giving Six Nations the early 1-0 lead.

The Adanacs came right back at 7:38. Keen Moon threaded a pass into traffic to Jalen Chaster, who collected it in tight and buried the finish from the doorstep to pull Coquitlam even.

After one period: Six Nations 1, Coquitlam 1.

Second Period:

Payton Cormier opened the second-period scoring for Coquitlam at 3:50, using a great individual effort to create space before finishing unassisted to give the Adanacs the lead.

Then the Chiefs exploded.

Lyle Thompson got Six Nations rolling in transition at 4:09, taking a Latrell Harris feed and burying the opportunity to tie the game. Just seven seconds later, Graeme Hossack crashed the crease and powered his way to the net unassisted, suddenly putting the Chiefs in front.

Randy Staats extended the lead at 8:27, finishing a Cody Jamieson feed from the side of the net. Tyson Bell followed at 9:44, taking a Latrell Harris pass and going coast-to-coast before finishing at the other end.

The pressure continued at 11:58 when Josh Byrne unleashed an absolute howitzer from the outside off a Dhane Smith feed. Chris Cloutier joined the barrage at 13:13, taking an Andrew Kew pass and skipping a low-to-low shot home from the outside.

Six Nations wasn't finished. With just 48 seconds remaining in the period, Dhane Smith converted a Ryan Smith feed at 19:12, capping a seven-goal Chiefs run and a dominant second period.

After two periods: Six Nations 8, Coquitlam 2.

Third Period:

The third period belonged to the defenses and goaltenders, as both teams shut the door and kept the scoresheet clean throughout the final frame.

With neither side able to break through, the Chiefs protected their six-goal advantage all the way to the final horn.

Final: score, Six Nations 8, Coquitlam 2.
