Cloutier's Four Goals Lead Undefeated Chiefs to 18-6 Rout of Kodiaks

The Cobourg Kodiaks (9-7) traveled west to face the undefeated Six Nations Chiefs (16-0) in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday evening at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario. 

The goaltending match-up had Gavin Williamson in net for the Kodiaks facing Doug Jamieson in net for the Chiefs. 

The Six Nations Chiefs continued their perfect season on Tuesday night, overpowering the Cobourg Kodiaks 18-6 at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena to improve to 16-0. Six Nations seized control early, scoring six first-period goals behind balanced offensive production from Andrew Kew, Cody Jamieson, Dawson Theede, David Anderson, Lyle Thompson, and Chris Cloutier. Despite an early answer from Taylor Dooley, the Chiefs dictated the pace from start to finish, carrying a commanding 6-1 lead after the opening frame before extending it to 11-4 through two periods.

Chris Cloutier led the offensive explosion with four goals and two assists, while David Anderson was just as superb with a five-point night highlighted by three goals. Cody Jamieson, and Dawson Theede added a pair each as Six Nations showcased its depth with contributions throughout the lineup. Cobourg received two-goal efforts from Taylor Dooley and Ethen Fines, along with singles from Alex Marinier and Jason Knox, but the Chiefs proved too deep, adding seven third-period goals to seal an emphatic 18-6 victory.

To The Game:

The Chiefs got on the board first with Andrew Kew finishing a Chris Cloutier pass at 2:00, but Taylor Dooley replied for Cobourg going coast to coast unassisted 33 seconds later.

Cody Jamieson regained the lead for Six Nations with a high to low bounced shot off a David Anderson pass at 4:16, followed by Dawson Theede going coast to coast at 5:55 on a great individual effort. 

David Anderson then hit a twister to the far side off a Kason Tarbell pass at 15:28, followed by Lyle Thompson with a shot from in close off a Chris Cloutier feed at 17:25.  Cloutier then unloaded a howitzer from the outside off a Ryan Smith pass at 18:56.

After one period, Six Nations 6 Cobourg 1.

Second Period:

Shayne Jackson opened the second period scoring with a shot from the top of the crease off a Matt Hossack pass at 1:19.

Taylor Dooley got the Kodiaks back on the board with a great individual effort shooting over Doug Jamieson's shoulder unassisted at 4:48, followed by Alex Marinier on the power-play with a high to low laser off a Brock Haley feed at 7:23.

Cody Jamieson stopped the Cobourg mini-run with a blast to the top corner off a Shayne Jackson pass 26 seconds later, followed by Matt Marinier with a fake and shot to the far corner off a Matt Hossack pass at 11:27.

Cobourg kept fighting with Ethen Fines scoring off a Jason Knox pass at 12:37, but Six Nations was still controlling the majority of play in the period. 

Chris Cloutier then fired a sidearm snipe off an Andrew Kew feed at 14:11, followed by a shorthanded marker from David Anderson who grabbed a rebound off the backboards off a Shayne Jackson shot at 19:31.

After two periods, Six Nations 11 Cobourg 4.

Third Period:

Chris Cloutier opened the third period scoring for Six Nations with a high to high blast to the top corner off an Andrew Kew pass at 33 seconds, followed by David Anderson with a sidearm snipe off a Ryan Smith feed at 2:27.  Matt Hossack then added a shorthanded marker off a Matt Marinier pass at 4:28.

The Kodiaks replaced Gavin Williamson with Callan Baker in net.

Jason Knox added one for the Kodiaks with a blast off an Alex Marinier feed at 5:14 on the power-play.

Chris Cloutier answered off a Shayne Jackson pass 32 seconds later, follkwed by Tim Edwards continuing the onslaught grabbing a rebound out in front off a Matt Hossack shot at 7:31.

Cobourg's Ethen Fines fired a bounced shot from the outside off a Nathan Schultzkie pass at 10:01.

 Ryan Smith replied once again going across the crease off a Lyle Thompson pass at 12:10, followed by Dawson Theede adding another goal to the shortside off a Ty Logan pass at 14:09.

Final score, Six Nations 18 Cobourg 6.
