Oakville Erupts Early, Cruises to 11-3 Win in Brampton

The Oakville Rock (8-2) traveled to face the Brampton Excelsiors (2-10) in Major Series Lacrosse action Thursday night at the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Evan Constantopolous in net for Oakville facing Connor O'Toole in net for the Excelsiors.
The Oakville Rock put together one of their most complete performances of the season Thursday night, scoring early and never looking back in an 11-3 victory over the Brampton Excelsiors at Memorial Arena. Jake Darlison opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest before Isiah Moran-Weekes and Carson Moyer helped Oakville build a commanding 4-1 first-period lead. Brampton's lone bright spot in the opening frame came from Thomas McConvey, who buried a late goal to keep the Excelsiors within striking distance.
Any hopes of a Brampton comeback disappeared in the second period as Oakville exploded for five unanswered goals, highlighted by a three-goal burst in less than two minutes. Alex Simmons orchestrated the offence with a dominant playmaking performance, while Josh Dawick, Tye Steenhuis and Jack MacAlpine added to the barrage. Moran-Weekes and Dawick each finished with two goals as the Rock improved to 8-2 on the season, while Brampton fell to 2-10 despite McConvey's two-goal effort.
To The Game:
The Rock got off to a quick start with Jake Darlison going coast to coast in transition unassisted at 1:01, foĺlowed by Isiah Moran-Weekes from in close off an Alex Simmons pass at 10:29.
Oakville kept up the pressure with Carson Moyer scoring back to back markers. The first was in transition unassisted with a low to low shot at 11:10, followed by an outside blast off a Jack MacAlpine feed at 16:22.
Brampton got on the board late in the frame with Thomas McConvey scoring on a sidearm snipe off a Mike Triolo pass at 19:26.
After one period, Oakville 4 Brampton 1.
Second Period:
The Excelsiors got off to a fast start in the second with McConvey scoring his second of the game with a blast to the corner off a Curtis Ward pass at 0:40 seconds, but three goals in 1:58 from Jack MacAlpine, Justin Lee and Alex Simmons blew the game wide open for Oakville, giving them a 7-2 lead at 12:52.
Tye Steenhuis continued the Rock onslaught with a shot from the top of the crease off an Alex Simmons pass at 17:50.
Brampton replaced Connor O'Toole with Riley Hutchcraft in net.
Josh Dawick welcomed Hutchcraft to the game with a sidearm snipe off an Alex Simmons feed at 19:31.
After two periods, Oakville 9 Brampton 2.
Third Period:
The Rock replaced Evan Constantopolous with Landon Kells in net to start the third period.
Oakville opened the third period scoring with Isiah Moran-Weekes scoring from the top of the crease off an Alex Simmons pass at 1:43, but Brampton answered with Tye Scott finishing an Erich Acton feed from in close at 3:37.
Josh Dawick then scored his second of the game on the power-play off an Alex Simmons pass at 8:14.
Final score, Oakville 11 Brampton 3.
