By Gary Groob
The Six Nations Chiefs (14-0) traveled east to face the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (7-8) in Major Series Lacrosse action Wednesday night at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Doug Jamieson in net for the Chiefs facing Thomas Kiazyk in net for Brooklin.
For a while, it looked like Brooklin (BLC) might be the team to finally hand the Chiefs their first loss. The home side raced out to an early 2-0 lead and continued to push the pace throughout the night, but every time momentum shifted, Six Nations had an answer. Behind another complete team effort, the Chiefs left Whitby with a 9-7 victory to keep their perfect season intact.
Dhane Smith once again pulled the strings offensively with five points, while Josh Byrne scored twice in a balanced attack that saw contributions throughout the lineup. Brooklin refused to go quietly, getting a hat trick from Dyson Williams and six points from Chris Boushy, making the Chiefs work until the final horn in one of their toughest tests of the season.
