By Gary Groob

The Six Nations Chiefs (3-0) traveled east to face the Cobourg Kodiaks (0-1) at the Cobourg Community Centre in Major Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening.

The goaltending match-up had Warren Hill in net for the Chiefs facing Laine Hruska in net for the Kodiaks.

The Six Nations Chiefs flexed their offensive depth and firepower in a high-paced battle, pulling away from the Cobourg Kodiaks for a dominant 19-9 victory. Cobourg matched the Chiefs stride for stride in an entertaining opening period, with Alex Marinier leading the charge and helping the Kodiaks erase multiple deficits as the teams traded goals throughout a wild first twenty minutes. After ending the opening frame deadlocked at 5-5, however, Six Nations began to take control behind relentless pressure and an explosive transition game.

The Chiefs took over in the second and never looked back, unleashing wave after wave of offense led by Josh Byrne's huge night and strong performances from Shayne Jackson, Ryan Smith, Andrew Kew, and David Peterkin. Six Nations repeatedly capitalized on turnovers and transition opportunities, turning a close game into a rout with an eight-goal second period and six more in the third. Warren Hill and the Chiefs defense tightened things up after the opening frame, while the offense buried Cobourg under a barrage of 74 shots on goal, sealing an emphatic 19-9 win.
